Hello Everyone!Seeing as my last hair blog got a good response,I decided to do a new one for us girls with the big fluffy afro hair,BUT where its got damaged from heat, relaxers or just where your hair is prone to be dry. SO in this blog, i challenged myself for a month,to go without any kind of stylers and the use of "three" products that I was only allowed to use,to see if i could get my natural curls back.WARNING There is a lot of reading here but it will benefit you,I will keep it as short as I can :)
Here below are two photos of when i style my hair.I "have" to style it because the naturally waviness/curliness has completely gone, due to all the straightening I applied to my hair in the past.
Both of these photos are about 3-4months old and have both been styled. The one on the left looks more pretty because that was then pretty much when i started to style my hair, whereas the picture on the right, you can see the wavy curls, but you can start to see that its starting to look dryish.I'll hold my hands up and admit that i did not use heat protective spray before styling, and the reason for this,is because 1.It would make my hair all sticky,2.The stickiness made it harder for me to style,3.It caused more frizz, so while i was styling my hair, not only was it not getting heat protectant,it was also not getting moisturised either,so really it was like a plant growing but with no water
Right onto the hair recovery products. The order they have been posted in are the steps i do for my hair and i promise you,you won't regret this one bit!!
Aussie Miracle Shine Shampoo:
I've always been a fan of Aussie products, they always stay true to what they say and this shampoo is fantastic. Its for dull and tired hair (MINE) and its begging to shine. What i love about this is that it has ginseng extract and pearl powder, which gives you that nutrition that your hair needs to give it that nice soft and shiny hair feeling which it does! Its 3 for £10 at boots which is a bargain,so get there after you've finished reading this blog!Ok this is going to be a long step process to read, but honestly its quick to do heheWash your hair with lukewarm water so any existing products in your hair are washed out. Then get a huge dollop of this shampoo and massage it evenly over your hair, including the ends so that it all gets moisturised too.Leave that on for about 3-5minutes then wash it all out.
If you have used aussie products before, you know how beautiful there products smell and it just makes you feel even better about yourself.
Don't expect to have beautiful shine straight away after putting this in your hair it doesn't work that quick hehe
Dark & Lovely Ultra Cholesterol Conditioner:
I didn't use Dark & Lovely products for at least 8 years because back then, they would make my hair stick together and basically just make it awful. This product though is a complete life saver and it even works for people with fine hair too!You can pick up this tub for about £1.89 in superdrug and boots which is a really good deal :D The only negative side i had to this product was the overpowering smell. It is ridiculously strong, so i would advise to stick a peg on you nose!:)
With this product you nearly do the same process as the Aussie shampoo but!you don't wash this product out straight away!Get a hair cap or a hat,and put your hair up into it (don't tie it because you don't want it all tangled) and leave it like that for 30-35mins for it to deep condition your hair. After the 30mins,wash out with lukewarm water, and your hair should be looking more like your natural curls, but there still will be the occasional straight bits for your first time.Once you've done this process a few times your hair will start to look naturally curly again.
Dark & Lovely Olive Oil Oil Moisturiser/Blowdrying:
Another great product by Dark & Lovely that i honestly cannot live without!I've only been using this product for about a month and a half, and its done complete wonders. My hair was extremely dry before i started using this, and it would have that "crunch" feeling which is not a nice way to have your hair at all!
I use this product as a hair moisturiser and i also use this as a heat protectant when only blowdrying my hair.Squeeze small dollop of this and evenly put it through you hair, and run the tips of you fingers through your hair so that its spread all through your hair. Now just blowdry until your hair is dry, and it should start to look all nice and curly. You can purchase this product for about £3 from Superdrug.
TALIAH WAAJID Curly Curl Cream (LAST ONE!!!)
This is the last product you shall be applying to your hair for this blog so nearly there!I never heard of this brand before and one of my friends recommended that i should give it a go,so i thought ok why not.I've been using this product the same amount of time as the oil moisturiser, and the two seem to mix very well together.
I use this to keep my curls intact, and it can also be used to style your hair, but what i would recommend is you style you hair then apply some of this on,because if you do it the other way round, i found it got my hair stylers sticky and it would make your hair dry a bit quicker, but thats just from my personal experience.
This sells for around £5.99 on Amazon and thats not bad for a tub this size so i was quite happy with it.It's also directed for hair thats curly, kinky, wavy and coily hair textures too!Its non greasy and it conditions, nourishes, adds shine and moisturises your hair.
States quite a bit, but it does every single one like it states :D
Im going to show two more photos now, 1.Of the dry, curly hair before the process 2. A month within of doing this process :)
